One day I was reading a review of a Meghan and Harry podcast. The review read as follows:
Why if you love Harry and Meghan must you hate William and Kate?
Why should we not like both Meghan and Kate, or at least if not like then both equally then at least show some respect to both Kate and Meghan, for the important work that these women do?
So, this podcast will not be about comparing Kate with Meghan or bad mouthing one Duchess at the expense of the other. This podcast will only be commentating on what Kate and William are doing with their patronages and other work as they prepare for the ultimate role in the Royal Family, as the King and Queen’s Consort of the United Kingdom.
10 years on from her marriage to Prince William, Kate is not only a wife and a mother, but holds a position as a senior working Royal. Kate currently holds patronages with about 20 charitable and military associations. Her charity work focuses mainly on issues surrounding young children, addiction, mental health and visual arts. In 2012 and 2013, TIME magazine selected her as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.
The Covid-19 pandemic has made for a very busy time for Kate and for William. Who would have thought that a global crisis would have been the catalyst to allow Kate and William to shine in their Royal roles.
Despite being in lock down for much of the time, what we have seen is how the joint work that Kate undertook with William, as well as Kate’s own projects had an increasing impact on people in the UK.
Together she and William led the charge in supporting front line workers who they describe as “continuing to muster the energy to put their own lives on hold to look after the rest of us."
During the pandemic William and Kate made many visits either in person or through video conferencing, to thank these workers and to ensure workers knew they were truly valued.
Kate’s love of photography that we have seen through her lovely portraits of her kids, has also come to the fore during the pandemic.
Kate has come a long way from her early days in the royal family and is now really finding her feet and her confidence.
In a recent article by journalist Sarah Grossbart, Kate was described as a woman who has shown herself to be a good ambassador for the Royal Family, whether she’s chatting on the phone one on one to a grateful caregiver, or when joining William on their Royal Tours.
I think the Royal Family see in Kate a stable, level-headed woman, who can and does shine, but who also supports her husband William and their children and who is safe and seemingly doesn’t rock the boat.
Let us continue to follow the work of Kate and William as they continue their path towards the most senior level in the Royal Family.
