S01E06 - Trainspotting (1996) w. Molly-Anne
Manage episode 302817244 series 2936573
Welcome to Season 1 of Snubs & Dubs! This season we are covering the 69th Academy Awards, featuring the films of 1996.
On Episode 6, we're talking about Danny Boyle's Trainspotting. Heroin addict Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) stumbles through bad ideas and sobriety attempts with his unreliable friends -- Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Begbie (Robert Carlyle), Spud (Ewen Bremner), and Tommy (Kevin McKidd). He also has an underage girlfriend, Diane (Kelly Macdonald), along for the ride. After cleaning up and moving from Edinburgh to London, Mark finds he can't escape the life he left behind when Begbie shows up at his front door on the run, and a scheming Sick Boy follows.
Programming notes:
- Begbie is referred to as being played by Kevin McKidd multiple times in this episode. This is because we are dumb and didn't check. But yes, we know he is played by the wonderful Robert Carlyle.
- Molly is joining us over Zoom, thus the difference in audio quality.
