Dr. Christine Schauerte (e-mail) of NorthShore University HealthSystem and Northwestern University, Dr. Chris Hagan (e-mail, ResearchGate) of Edward Elmhurst Healthcare and Northwestern University, and Dr. Alex Anderson (e-mail, Twitter, Instagram) of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Northwestern University, and the Physical Therapy Academy are interviewed by Stephen M. Shaffer regarding a presentation they gave at the 2021 AAOMPT Conference titled, "'The Things Left Unsaid': Adhesive Capsulitis as a Model for Improved Health Education and Wellness Advocacy.” This episode contains information that will be interesting for practitioners who want to think past the traditional clinical reasoning approach within orthopaedic manual therapy as it relates to adhesive capsulitis. Additionally, the following links can be used to find the scientific papers mentioned during this interview: Lubis & Lubis 2013 (tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase and transforming growth factor-beta 1 in adhesive capsulitis), Hand et al 2007 (the presence of immune cells [B-lymphocytes, T-lymphocytes, macrophages, mast cells] have been found in the synovium/capsule of recalcitrant adhesive capsulitis), Tighe & Oakley 2008 (prevalence of a diabetic condition and adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder), and Dueñas et al 2019 (JOSPT case series).
