In this episode of the podcast, I shall dwell on the various reasons as to why deep cycling lead acid batteries need equalizing. The frequency of equalising charge and the importance of equalising has also been addressed. I shall also explain as to why the battery should not be used with one or more lagging cells, especially when it is not very old and still has sufficient service life available.
Although an example of a traction battery has been considered, the details discussed are relevant for the golf cart battery, e rickshaw battery, aerial work platform battery and scrubber battery. The example of discharge current details for a certain power demand are approximate and conveyed for easy understanding.
