Twitter CEO Elon Musk has stated that he is open to developing his own "alternative" smartphone in the event the tech giants deplatform his social media site, implying that he may be left with no other choice. This comes after conservative commentator Liz Wheeler tweeted that if Apple and Google ban Twitter from their app stores, Musk should produce his own smartphone. On Friday, the Twitter CEO responded to Wheeler's tweet, saying that he would "make an alternative phone" if there is no other choice. Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, said in a New York Times op-ed that the social media giant risks being kicked out of the Apple and Google app stores if they fail to adhere to the guidelines. Roth's comments come after Phil Schiller, an Apple fellow who's responsible for leading the App Store, deleted his Twitter account.
