La Comadre Carina is reporting from Puerto Rico in the midst of massive protest asking for the resignation of Governor Ricardo Rossello. While these demonstrations were sparked by misogynistic comments revealed in a group chat, we explore how patriarchal violence is connected to our colonial status and how decolonization is the only option. Then we speak to transfeminist media group Espicy Nipplez based out of PR about surviving Hurricane Maria, building safe spaces for LGBTQ+ folks in a conservative society and resisting the machismo prevalent not just in society but in independence and environmental movements here on the island.
