Good morning! This morning I speak about voting in DAOs. DAOs have notoriously low participation in voting as well as people that just speculate on the governance tokens. This has been an issue lots of communities have been trying to solve. This issue even applies to the large-scale apathy we see in our nation-wide voting today. In this episode I go over a prototype of a voting system being developed by Re-Public.io. The idea is that a DAO gives the members voting tokens that are non-transferable soulbound tokens. In order to claim these tokens, they must be delegated. What makes it original, is that on top of needing to be delegated, you can delegated to someone based on proposal topic and to a person who specializes in that topic category. For example, if I know Keith is good at software development, and a proposal is about a a proposed software upgrade, I am going to delegate my votes to Keith on that proposal because I don't know jack squat about software.

Hopefully this type of liquid democracy can wrangle people from apathy or just speculation back into the voting process.
