I sju år har Trondheim kommune og NTNU arrangert klimakonkurransen Climathon. Dette er en internasjonal klimadugnad der byenes klimautfordring står i sentrum.

Det er det europeiske instituttet for innovasjon og teknologi (EIT) Climate-KIC som står bak arrangementet.

Trøndelag Fylkeskommune er en av samarbeidspartnere i konkurransen som pågår i tolv timer. I løpet av disse timene jobber deltakere intenst for å finne løsninger på en utfordring. Årets tema va bærekraftige matsystemer i Trondheim og Trøndelag.

Selv om det er studenter fra 121 land på NTNU, er Climathon det eneste engelske arrangementet i regi av Trondheim kommune.

Samtidig er Trondheim det eneste stedet i Norge hvor Climathon arrangeres.

I denne episoden av Fylkespodden møter vi vinnerlaget fra Climathon Trondheim. De vant med ideen om å skape en «food hub» i Trøndelag som skal koble byen og innbyggerne sammen med lokalmat og bønder.

I tillegg vil klimarådgiver i klima- og miljøenheten i Trondheim kommune, Chin Yu Lee, snakke om hvordan det er å arrangere Climathon i Trondheim.

Another year of Climathon in Trondheim

For seven years Trondheim Municipality and Norwegian University of Science and Technology have organized a solution driven climate competition called Climathon. This year Trøndelag County Authority has also been a part of the collaboration. Initially the competition was held for 24 hours and now in a 12-hour format where the participants work together in teams for 12 hours constantly to find solutions to an existing local challenge. This year the theme was Sustainable Food Systems in Trondheim and Trøndelag.

Trondheim is the home of Norway’s largest university which constitutes both Norwegian students and international students from 121 countries. However, Climathon is the only English-speaking event arranged by the municipality in Trondheim. And Trondheim is also the only city in Norway which arranges the Climathon. Events such as Climathon is a chance for inhabitants to be engaged and find solutions to local problems which should be practiced also in other municipalities.

In this episode of the podcast, we have invited the winning team from Climathon Trondheim who talks about their idea to create a food hub in Trøndelag that will connect the city and its citizens with local food and farmers which will contribute to a sustainable food system in Trondheim and Trøndelag. In addition, Chin Yu Lee from Trondheim Municipality will talk about her 7 years journey as an organizer of Climathon in Trondheim.
