In 1921, a ship called the Carroll A. Deering wrecked against the Diamond Shoals, a particularly dangerous area to sail in North Carolina's Outer Banks. Also called the Graveyard of the Atlantic, the long string of barrier islands has seen countless shipwrecks and wild waters, but the mystery of the Carroll A. Deering was the first of its kind.

When a search party made its way to the ship, they found food left out in the kitchen, the steering equipment broken, and the crew missing. For over a hundred years, people have tried to figure out how the crew disappeared, where they went, and what actually happened on the Carroll A. Deering. In this episode, we explore the noted animosity between the ship's captain and first mate, the many, many theories about this case, and what the Bermuda Triangle has to do with it. (It has nothing to do with it.)

But first, Zoey is here with her Something Spooky: explaining the definitions of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree murder.
