In his sermon on August 4, 2024, Pastor Matt Willingham addresses the challenges of self-centeredness through the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19. He emphasizes that our biggest problem often lies within ourselves. Pastor Willingham encourages honesty in three areas: with ourselves by examining our physical and emotional states (H.A.L.T.: Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired), with God by focusing on His perspective, and with others by seeking support from the right people. He highlights that overcoming personal struggles involves pausing for self-reflection, aligning our focus with God’s will, and surrounding ourselves with supportive, positive influences.
