SERIES PURPOSE: The New Testament Book Of Acts chronicles the birth, growth and expansion of the church. In Acts 1:8, God predicted that He would give His followers power by the Holy Spirit to be spreaders of the Good News for Him in Jerusalem, Judea and to the very last part of the earth. Starting on the day of Pentecost (a few weeks after Jesus’s resurrection on Easter Sunday) God gave birth to the church and since then the church has been growing and the message has been spreading just as God said that it would. And it has impacted the world like no other message! Acts 17:6 says that the disciples were turning the world upside down and God wants those who follow Him to be a part of His continued work today. We’ll survey the book of Acts and examine some of the key stories in it to surface strategies that we can all apply in our lives to be the kind of people that are used by God to impact our world for the better.
“And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also” (Acts 17:6, ESV)
