Perfectionism was first discussed in psychiatry and psychologist circles in 1965 when M H Hollender described perfectionism from a psycho-pathological perspective as a demand to oneself or others of a higher quality of performance than that required by the situation.
In most cases, I think most of us assume that some levels of perfectionism are important. It's important to do things to a high standard, it shows pride, motivation and conscientiousness.
Unfortunately, it also leads to higher levels of stress, anxiety and burnout and is stealing our moments of joy.
Listen in to gain some a deeper understanding of perfectionism and what you can do to begin to minimise this personality trait within yourself (also a perfect episode for anyone living with a perfectionist :-)
