Loretta McNary Live is a weekly call in live radio show featuring interviews with celebrities, thought leaders, industry experts and unsung heroes. Attorney Victoria Washington is our guest today. Armed with her bachelor's degree, she began her Master’s program at Belhaven University while teaching 6th and 7th grade Language Arts at Chastain Middle School. Ms. Washington served as the head coach of the Girl’s Basketball team and assistant coach of the Volleyball team. But after her second year of teaching in the Jackson Public School District and interning with the Committee on Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., she decided to pursue her dreams. She was accepted to The University of Mississippi School of Law in Oxford, MS in 2011. While there she served as a chairman in the Black Law Student Association, was a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council, and held as the winner and semi-finalist in several Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Competitions. After law school, she began working at Sparkman, Zummach, & Perry, then served as a law clerk in the Sixth Circuit Court Judicial District; and thereafter, worked at Perry Griffin, P.C. in Southaven, Mississippi. In January 2018, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of starting her own law firm, The Washington Law Firm, PLLC in Southaven, MS. She has had the opportunity to travel to France, Spain, Mexico, England, and the Netherlands while studying Spanish and International Law. Her dreams are to finish writing her first book and use her talents to uplift those who struggle to uplift themselves. She’s currently a member of All Nations Worship Assembly (ANWA) in Memphis, TN under the leadership of Pastor Brandon Clack. She says: “Sometimes God will force you into an uncomfortable place to reach the next phase of your life. Trust his process and timing, because often times our plans aren’t on God’s calendar.”
