In Hopeful Expectation with Jenn Lozano, Lisa Livezey, and Jacqueline Harper
Manage episode 452382669 series 2974968
We’re thrilled to begin our Advent series, reflecting upon scriptures surrounding the coming of Jesus whether it be as a baby, into our hearts, or His second coming.
Advent is a time of preparation that can be frenetic with activity and yet we are challenged be still before the Lord as we consider his coming to earth.
Lisa emphasizes the heartfelt response of Psalm 25, “To you O Lord, I lift up my soul,” as a way we posture ourselves to prepare our hearts for the Lord.
Jenn wonders it was like to be one of the disciples. Did they know the One speaking to them was the anticipated Messiah?
Jacqueline gives an example from home life of preparation and expectation in relation to “cleaning up” any thoughts that might hinder our anticipation the Lord’s arrival.
The word “vigilant” is mentioned with the idea of moving towards the Lord, turning our faces towards Him, and being in constant communion with him.
Jenn concludes with a powerful passage from Daniel, encouraging us to keep our heads raised in hopeful expectation of meeting Jesus in this season.
Two questions:
1. What can each of us do this week to anticipate Jesus’ coming?
2. Can you guess what tradition Jenn kids take part in every Christmas Eve?
