The modern polyamory movement can readily trace it’s ties back to the feminist and counter-cultural movements of the 60’s and 70’s. Fueled by a willingness to question convention and a mandate to empower women, it’s no wonder polyamory would eagerly distance itself from the historical (and not so historical) polygamy of The Church of Latter Day Saints.
