Segment 1

Sam starts the show off by briefly interacting with his live audience, reminding his listeners they can interact with him directly on Facebook Live during shows. As always, Sam moves into discussing today’s excerpt from his book, today addressing the importance of integrity in our lives and society. Without living up to your stated goals and values, those around you will eventually come to recognize this disparity between your words and actions. Money can delay this but the exposure is inevitable, particularly in business. Takes very conscious effort to set an example, and this effort will reflect on those under you, incentivizing the same behavior from them. Using a recent movie as an example, Sam believes that society is going through an awakening of consciousness where we as society are becoming more aware of this lack of integrity. He urges his listeners to ask themselves Ask themselves who in their lives have integrity, who does not, and how do their actions reflect this? How can we use this information to change our own behavior for the better?

Segment 2

Coming back from the break Sam tells his listeners about a Caribbean island he went to on vacation named Montserrat. During his stay he learned quite a bit about the history of the island, and the hardships it’s people have endured. The volcano started to erupt in ‘95, and continued to erupt in ‘96 and ,97, destroying the island’s capital city. The eruptions would continue until almost 2010, forcing many to periodically leave the island, until the total population was only around 3000. To compound the tragedy of this story he discovered this disaster came just after reconstruction efforts from a hurricane in ‘89 had just finished. Sam urges his listeners to reflect on these tragedies and the hardships it imposed on the citizens and consider how they could act as an example of how to be more resilient in our lives, and how to process our own tragedies.

Segment 3

Sam continues talking about the island Montserrat and its people. He talks about the community and how they all share similar characteristics that exude joy and gratitude, despite what they all have gone through. He notices a subtle but insightful trait that the natives share which was knowing the names of small business owners rather than the name of the business. It shows how they focus on community as opposed to commercial advertising. Sam talks about the hardships the land has faced over the years and how it affected the community financially and emotionally. He comments on the natives' resilience to stay on their land and continue to be grateful for what they have rather than abandoning it after natural disasters.

Segment 4

In the last segment, Sam talks about his experience on Montserrat and the obstacles he and his wife faced during their holiday. After quartining for five days, Sam and his wife struggled to find businesses that were open due to the four day holiday. They decided not to rent a car due to the cultural differences in the laws of their road, which actually turned out to be the more reasonable option. Walking around town, Sam and his wife were able to explore and find hiking trails where they found a beautiful view but ultimately got lost. Sam talks about other hiccups he encountered on his vacation and how he had to stay present and grateful in order to appreciate the rest of the trip. Sam wants to hear what makes you resilient.
