Border-Gavaskar Special - Part 4 | Brisbane | #54
Manage episode 305192902 series 2900193
It's the penultimate episode of the Border-Gavaskar saga, and it's the Gabba - unconquered in over 30 years, last claimed by a team led by Viv Richards and to now be the decider of the series. With Sydney claiming Vihari, Ashwin, Bumrah, Jadeja and the Indian team looking under cushions for extra players, the Australian bowling quartet too were taxed, having to bowl upwards of 100 overs each, while that entire team was dealing with something else altogether in their camp.
We recount the many special events that led to the historic fall of fortress Gabba - the inevitable Marnus century and how that thunder was stolen by his own poor banter skills. India's bowling performance. The sequel to the Pant-Pujara show, and the big-ticket entertainment of the Shardul-Washington partnership. How Rohit Sharma caused an entire country to groan in pain, and made it worse with his justification. Shubman's brilliant set up at the start, and how India's plans on the final day were vague until Rahane stepped out. The best one of all though, was when Prithvi Shaw somehow mistook Rohit Sharma for three stumps and scored a direct hit.
