Transformation Tuesdays was inspired by the CD "The Jesus Question" by Matthew Kelly. We recap the Gospel from the prior Sunday and give action steps and resources to transform our lives for that week every Tuesday at 2:10 p.m. at Morris Hall. Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: Hello, I’m Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione Aaron Emig: And I’m Aaron Emig We are so exciting to learn from a student from Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School as our special guest… This week’s guest is Elizabeth Rauk… We are now in the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time… This week’s Question is… Do you love your enemy or do you seek revenge? The Gospel comes from: Matthew 5:38-48 Elizabeth Rauk: Some of the most difficult of all of Jesus’ commands are those which we hear in today's gospel. “I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil.” and "enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Aaron Emig: Jesus says that what you have learned is wrong… When someone harms do not seek revenge… Take the high road and love them and pray for them… Pretty radical teaching back then and very radical teaching in today’s world… Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: We mistakenly believe that real justice is in the law of vengeance: an eye for an eye. The reality of that way of thinking says that we would rather live our life opposite of how Jesus commanded us to love our enemies. Real Justice cannot be achieved through vengeance. Elizabeth Rauk: When we love our enemies, it may influence other people to do the same. If you turn the other cheek and take the pain, you are setting a good example. Aaron Emig: We need to love more even when someone does something wrong to you… I know it’s hard but that’s what Jesus wants us to do… Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: Wisdom Words for the Week “If we refuse to forgive, if we demand the law of vengeance, if we desire vengeance more than Christ's presence, then we are refusing to accept Jesus Christ himself.” Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione Aaron Emig: Transformation Tool “The Jesus Question” CD from Matthew Kelly Free copies at Morris Hall on Tuesdays at 2:10 p.m. Only while supplies last Aaron Emig: Transformation Tuesdays Prayer…“Jesus, how do You want me to transform my life today?” Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione: God Bless from Ss.
