×Our Christmas series is titled “Looking Forward to Christmas”. It has us looking back to Jesus’ arrival and looking forward to His return. Christmas gives us the opportunity to look back to what happened in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago, that arrival of a baby named Jesus, and how it has changed history forever. As Christians, we have weighed up the evidence and we are convinced that Jesus was who he said he was, God incarnate, the infinite One who limited Himself so that we could be rescued. For this reason, Christmas time shouldn’t be a time of only looking back, we should also look forward. We can look forward to the promise that Jesus has made us: that He will come back and when He does, He will renew the world. Jesus will bring justice and show mercy to those who have put their trust in him. For us, this time of year is a time of great celebration and great hope because we are looking forward to another Christmas when Jesus will return.…
Reading through the book of Luke, this sermon series at Narrabeen Baptist Church will help us better understand God’s kingdom in the now and not yet.
ver the next two weeks, we’ll be bringing a miniseries called “Grace and Truth” that seeks to apply these principles to our discipleship and our public discourse. Week 1, we’ll look at truth and we’ll ask the question: in a world of many options, how can I be sure I’m believing the right thing. We’re not looking into the Bible as truth, we’re taking that as a given, what we are looking at is how to best discern truth in non-Biblical matters – think about the many opinions around those issues the Bible doesn’t directly address. How can we responsibly seek out truth as a Christian? Week 2 will be all about grace. How can we graciously and lovingly disagree with others? How can we hold to the truth, yet still be in fellowship and maintain friendships with those who think differently? We’ll think both of our relationships in the church and our witness to those outside the church. At NBC we believe it is essential to our fellowship and our public witness that we get these things right.…
Wisdom is putting into practice habits of how life works best, how God created things to be. Whether we find ourselves struggling in the middle of a pandemic or wondering why we’re here or simply navigating the patterns of everyday life, timeless truths from the Creator of the universe speak into each and every situation we experience. “Get Wisdom” is the series we’re going to dive into for the remainder of the year. Through sermons, studies, seminars and conversations, we are going to connect ourselves to the ways of wisdom and more importantly, the author of that wisdom so that we are better prepared to walk through the highs and lows of life.…
We are Jesus’ apprentices. The term apprentice is to be used as a synonym of disciple. Many people think of a disciple as a mere follower. The word apprentice forces us to look beyond the simple act of following and moves us into ideas of training and preparation to continue in the work that Jesus is beginning. We will read through the Gospel of Mark, written by John Mark, an apprentice of Peter. Peter is telling his story of apprenticeship to Jesus and we get glimpses of what an apprentice learns, experiences and how they are equipped for the task of fishing for people. Were Not Our Hearts Burning Within Us - from the very beginning of the human story there has been a crying out - for healing, for restoration, for all things being made right. At the end of Luke’s gospel, two people walk away from Jerusalem - from the death of a dear friend. They were followers of Jesus and thought he might be the answer to all of our deepest longings. But he was gone and so was hope. Until someone walked along the road with them and spoke into their story and every story. They soon realized it was Jesus who entered their space and they said “were not our hearts burning within us as he walked along the road and spoke with us.” Jesus has that same effect on is today. He enters in, walks beside us and transforms our story. This series takes us along the road with Jesus to find our stories and hope in him and find our hearts burning because of it. Narrabeen Baptist Church
We will be exploring what it means to be saved by faith in Christ, not through our own good efforts and then ask the question, why and how should we live lives that please God, if we’ve already been made right with him?
"Where To From Here" explores the values that determine who we are as a gathering that is following Jesus. The book of Acts will serve as our backdrop, showing us how the early church in the first century A.D. wrestled with the same questions that face us. DOWNLOAD SERMON SLIDES DOWNLOAD DISCUSSION PAPER…
