I have recently made up my mind to study certain topics at depth and then after studying those topics, release them as a series through time. The first topic I would like to discuss with you all is that of Free Grace. Have you ever had it haunting you in the back of your mind if you were really “saved” in your faith or if you “genuinely” believed in Jesus the Christ as your savior? I have lived a chunk of my life stuck in this sort of rut, not sure if I was really saved or not, not knowing if my faith was producing enough “good works” to prove that I was a genuine believer. That was until I found the study of Free Grace. Throughout this series we will be setting up the foundations of Free Grace, as well as studying Arminianism, Calvinism, and Lordship Salvation. Today’s episode revolves around my personal background, what does it mean to have faith and to believe as well as studying if the word “Accursed” in the New Testament means “Damned to Hell” or something else entirely. As I read the Story, “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas” by Ursula K. Le Guin I am brought face to face with our very own culture, and though this story deserves a much deeper dive, I can’t help but tie it into what we are talking about today. We live in such comfort, subject to our own vices, and games that we have created within our own society. Much of the time we neglect the evils that go on all around us, because if we acknowledge them, then guilt begins to manifest within us, and we can’t have that. So we push it off to the side, we forget it exists, we turn a blind eye to it so we can keep living within whatever utopia we have within our own minds. Today I have two guests joining me to discuss the horrors of human trafficking, and to shed the light of hope in the darkness. The first is Becky Rasmussen founder of the Call to Freedom movement in Sioux Falls, SD. This is an organization that is helping victims of human trafficking get back on their feet, and rebuild their lives. If you paid any attention to the withdrawal from Afghanistan you may have noticed that it was a catastrophe. From the handing over of Kabul airbase to the Taliban stocked full of weapons and equipment, to losing the lives of 13 service members in an attack that could have been prevented. Last time we held this show, we came to a point where Ian was taken back to a cabin in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Sure this is a place on earth, a physical geographical position on a map. It’s more than that, it's the soft wind upon your face the trees rustling in the wind and the sound of a cold stream behind you. This place that seems to bring you peace also has a harsher and more violent side to it, if you fail to prepare and stay out within the elements for to long, nature will kill you. For those of us who embark upon such adventures do not return the same way we left, rather we are changed by our surroundings, the mountains harsh edges chip away at us, the rains harden us, and the clear skies help us to find resolve within our hearts and minds. It is not the easy path that leads to self acceptance and pushing past the hardships of life, but rather the struggle to do something hard and come face to face with who you are and realize what it is you must change or come to terms with. There is a phenomenon the human body experience that is called awe and I believe that Ian found it when he was spending time with the fireflies and by the cabins in the mountains. This is more than wonderment and amazement, although it is definitely all of that, it is also that of fear mixed with adrenaline. To come face to face with something more powerful than yourself, bigger than yourself, something that strikes the chords of beauty within your very being, you begin to wonder how large this world truly is and how incredibly small you are. And yet, even when such grander stands before you, you push, one step in front of the other. Into this great beyond, into life itself.…
