Tony Nicholson starred in The Wandering Earth 2 which is the biggest chinese film of all time making over a billion dollars at the global box office. I’ve known Tony for quite some time now as he was my strength and conditioning coach back when I was only 9 years old, so it’s incredible to see how far he’s come personally, and how all the traits he preached to me such as being disciplined, meticulous and balanced, he completely embodies, and his story of being a brit who moved to china at 18 with absolutely nothing, and then becoming one of their biggest stars, is honestly so inspiring. Expect to learn why filmmaking is such a fundamental aspect when it comes to bringing nations closer, why the world needs more international blockbusters, and strategies you can implement to actually achieve your dreams and not be stuck just dreaming. Tony actually joins me from Cambridge University in the UK, which just makes this episode all the more special, so I hope you guys like this conversation as much as I did. In this episode of Talking Flicks I discuss why Fleabag written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge was such a great female character, and why female characters are getting worse in modern Hollywood. This week are joined by the incredibly talented Michael Bronner who has worked on some terrific films both as a screenwriter and a producer. His debut film was 'United 93' in which he worked closely with Paul Greengrass as a producer. The film was made as a result of the 9/11 attack on the world trade centre. Michael's most recent film 'The Mauritanian' starring Tahar Rahim, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jodie Foster, covers the story of Mohamedou Salahi who was wrongly detained in Guantanamo Bay following the attack of 9/11. We cover a wide variety of topics in this discussion from the importance of trust in filmmaking and storytelling, the lies that the US government cover up about Guantanamo Bay. As well as understanding the different perspectives when it comes to 9/11 and global terrorism. We really enjoyed this discussion and hope you guys do too, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the episode. 🎧 Full episode available to listen & download now: https://www.theflickerspodcast.com/ Support our podcast and join our Patreon by hitting the link below: https://www.patreon.com/TheFlickers 📸 INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/flickerspodcast/ 🐦 TWITTER: https://twitter.com/flickerspodcast?lang=en Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/TheFlickersPodcast/ To sign up to Buzzsprout and receive a $20 gift card click the link below: https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=1744007 Music By David Cutter Music: https://www.davidcuttermusic.co.uk Support the show…

In this episode we discuss our favourite actors who we think have the most desirable careers. John chose Mickey Rourke who's known fro his role in 'Angel Heart' alongside Robert De Niro and 'The Wrestler' alongside Marisa Tomei. Jesse chose rising star Timothee Chalamet known for his roles in 'Call Me By Your Name' alongside Armie Hammer, and his upcoming film 'Dune' starring alongside Zendaya. We also take in recommendations from our listeners who chose actors such as Hugh Jackman, Meryl Streep & Addison Rae who recently starred in the Netflix movie 'He's All That'. It was fun to record an episode without a guest as it allowed for us to catch up with each other, as well as discuss more lighthearted cinephile topics. It also allowed us to include our listeners and supporters in the episode more which we love to do. So sit back relax and enjoy the episode. 🎧 Full episode available to listen & download now: https://www.theflickerspodcast.com/ 📸 INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/flickerspodcast/ 🐦 TWITTER: https://twitter.com/flickerspodcast?lang=en Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/TheFlickersPodcast/ Support the podcast below: https://www.patreon.com/TheFlickers To sign up to Buzzsprout and receive a $20 gift card click the link below: https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=1744007 Music By David Cutter Music: https://www.davidcuttermusic.co.uk Support the show…
