After marrying a mysterious man who claimed he could make her dog immortal (absolutely absurd!!!) a celebrated vegan restaurateur finds her life veering off the rails, when one of our own Bostonians brainwashes her into giving him a shit ton of money. DMZ (2022 ) on HBO. A civil war breaks out in a futuristic America and Manhattan becomes a demilitarized zone. After years apart from her son. Alma Ortego (Rosario Dawson) goes on the quest to find her son in DMZ. She quickly learns her ex Parco Delgado (Benjamin Pratt) is the leader of the Spanish Kings, and has trained their son, Skell (Freddy Miyaris) to be an assassin. Deep Water 2022 on HULU. A well-to-do husband (Ben Affleck) who allows his wife (Ana De Armas) to have affairs, becomes a prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers. So we got into Jo's stash of edibles and things are not okay. Man swore Delta-8 doesn't affect her "that way" ...you just wait. Available on Disney+ Turning Red is about 13 year old Meilin who finds herself turning into a physical red panda when her emotions get the best of her due to her ancestors association with red panda (a euphemism for not only getting your period for the first time, but also learning how to control your emotions and accepting all parts of yourself). Taking place in the year 2002 it's all about tamagotchis and boy bands for this preteen! Voiced by Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Jordan Fisher, Finneas O'Connell, directed by Domee Shi. Death's a dirty job, but somebodies got to do it! And poor Charlie Asher is it. Written by Christopher Moore this quirky novel walks you through the life of Charlie Asher, a first time dad and brand new Death Merchant, responsible for procuring soul vessels from the recently deceased. I want to explain something before we move on...right around the time Amanda attempts to dive into Doomed by Chuck Palahniuk, the edibles have fully kicked in. We can barely make out a coherent thought for almost 8 minutes between the fit of silent and tea kettle laughter, stomach pains, and the uncomfortable feeling of almost throwing up while tears stream our faces. Doomed is the second book in this duo-logy, where Maddison is tasked, by God, to save the world from Hell. Once Man, finally gets her shit together she rated this book a 4/5. Pieces of Her released on March 4th on Netflix, an 8 episode series based on a novel by the same name written by Karin Slaughter. Directed by Minkie Spiro, created by Charlotte Stoudt, starring Toni Collette, Bella Heathcote, Omari Hardwick, and Gil Birmingham. Andy (Heathcote) goes to lunch with her mother, Laura (Collette) for her 30th birthday. From the beginning, Laura and Andy's mother-daughter relationship seems difficult. When a shooter takes down a few patrons, Laura shields her daughter from the shooter, begging the culprit to shoot her instead of Andy. Moments later our killer is on the floor bleeding out from a neck wound and quickly dies. Fall down the rabbit whole with Andy as searches for answers to questions about who her mother is and what has she ben running from for the last 30 years. Join us every Wednesday for new episode! The Boys Presents: Diabolical is a 2022 animated TV anthology series available on Prime. Written by Garth Ennis among others the anthology takes us through 15 minute mini episodes based off our beloved The Boys series. The violence, the gore, the downright nastiness is all still there despite it being a cartoon series!!! No Exit (2022) available on HULU, follows Darby, who breaks out of rehab so she can visit her sick mother. On her way there she is stuck in mountain rest stop during a blizzard with some other travelers. Darby find a young girl bund and gagged in the back of a van, and this story becomes a "who dunnit" thriller. Starring Havana Rose Liu, Danny Ramirez, Dennis Haysbert, Dale Dickey and directed by Damien Power. The Seed (2021) available on Shudder, a comedy/horror filled with bright colors, cheesy cliches, mixed with sick gore, Barbie World meets Ash v Evil Dead, follows friends Deidre (Lucy Martin), Charlotte (Chelsea Edge), and Heather (Sophie Vavasseur) who decided to spend the weekend in the Mojave desert to watch a meteor shower to up the likes on their social media accounts, then turns into a weekend from hell involving no cell reception, no internet, and OMG ALINES!!! We interrupt our review of The Seed to talk about THE godawful scene from Brand New Cherry Flavor on Netflix. Episode 4 at the 35 minute mark! Proceed with CAUTION!!! The Adam Project (2022) available on Netflix and trending at #1! We follow Adam from 2050, to the past and current 2022 where he meets his 11 year old self and the two pair up to save the world from time traveling consequences! Let us begin with The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse and while the pace of the book was wonderful and kept our favorite bibliophile intrigued enough for her to rate it a 3/5, it was a fallacy! False advertisement at its finest, promising a more loaded version of The Shining and to Manda's disappointment, the lack of ghosties just peeved her. I fill Manda in on the final season of Power on STARZs, another slight disappointment to be honest. Don't get me wrong the show was great, but like I said before, I could've done without. The fact that I compared the last half of season 6 to whiskey dick...say no more bitch! Ladies, be glad if you have a shitty credit score because men like Simon are out there. The Tinder Swindler on Netflix walks us through this charismatic--gross--man and his swindling ways! Girls, ask many questions, ask for proof, and keep your real bitches close so they can check you! Back in 2008 director Toby Wilkins traumatized us with Splinter available on HBOMax. He traps our actors Shea Whigham, Jill Wagner, and Paulo Costanzo in a gas station with a parasite of all things. This creepy crawly gets under your skin and burst out of you, killing you, and animating your meat suit for whatever purpose it needs. This conversation also leads to a quick mention of the short YouTube film Other Side of the Box by Caleb J. Philips. It's fucked! Now circling back to keeping your friends close and doing your research when dating now-a-days, brings Jo to understand that cotton candy grapes is yet another red flag! Fresh is available on HULU and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sebastian Stan, and JoJo T. Gibbs. The dangers for women and online dating is a risk we take, but my god so is meeting a man in a super market. We find out Steve (Stan) has a knack for kidnapping women, dismembering them and selling their meat to the 1% of the 1%. Now Noa (Edgar-Jones) has to find a way to survive by any means necessary. Hi all!!! This week we began discussing the wonderful weather we've been blessed with, but then the conversation turned into story time with Jo that lead to a brief mention to how scientist are questioning if women have the ability impregnate themselves, so exciting! Let's start with Man and Jo's birthday celebration extravaganza!!! Which consisted of pedicures, piercings, and a mighty book haul. We both picked up Anatomy a Love Story by Dana Shwartz . Man added to her stack Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco , and a couple of Chuck Palahniuks. While Jo added a little quirk to her stack with Christopher Moore's A Dirty Job, You Suck, and Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Friend. We dip into the last episodes of Season 2 of Euphoria on HBOMax. I've never wanted to be so wrong but the unfortunate events that unravel in the last episode gripped our hearts tight and we find ourselves hoping for the best and preparing for the worst for Ashtray. Heels (2021) on STARZs stars Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig created by Michael Waldron (producer of Loki and Rick and Morty ), follows the complicated life of Jack and Ace Spade in this authentic portrayal of the wrestling world and its complexities in and out of the ring. The performances, the betrayals, the accents! On March 4th the newest Batman finally hit theaters. The Batman directed by Matt Reeves starring Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Collin Farrell, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Andy Serkis and many more. We follow a very angry and determined Bruce Wayne on his second year as Batman/Vengeance in this noire version of greatness. Heavy with dialogue and fighting, the play with lighting and darkness is everything we wanted from a batman movie. The Batman gives Bruce Wayne's well known tragedy a leg to stand on, giving his perfect family a major flaw he might not be able to live with while trying to stop The Riddler (Dano), who, in my opinion, gave Heath Ledger's Joker a run for his money, with a performing just as terrifying and maybe more psychotic. I am glad to skip the jail time so let's move on: On this week's episode, we are left confused by Power of the Dog on Netflix. Directed by Jane Campion, this 1920's western stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, and Jesse Plemons. George (Plemons) marries Rose (Dunst), and Phil (Cumberbatch) is not okay with any of it. (Full of SPOILERS!) Man was left bored, wondering when the movie was going to end, but hey, Oscar nominee and shit, right? Ghostbusters: Afterlife starring Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, and Finn Wolfhard is now available for rent, and it was a banger! Full of nostalgia and throwbacks. There are spoilers for this one too, so beware! Through My Window (A Traves De Mi Ventana), available on Netflix, is a Spanish movie starring Clara Galle and Julio Pena. Raquel (Galle) is crushing on her neighbor, Ares (Pena). Ares finds a way to steal Raquel's Wi-Fi password to use it as a way to interact with her. From Raquel being obsessed with Ares, to finding him annoying and stuck up, to falling in love, we follow these two characters through the trials and tribulations of being young, falling in love, and being controlled by parents who expect better from you.
