還記得2020年新冠疫情蔓延至臺灣時，荷蘭送給臺灣醫護人員3,999朵象徵皇室的奧蘭治鬱金香嗎？橘色不僅是荷蘭國王節的代表色，也象徵著熱情、勇氣與希望，藉此為臺灣加油打氣；提到荷蘭，大家常聯想到鬱金香與風車，但這朵「魔力之花」其實源自土耳其。16世紀，鬱金香最早是生長於中亞天山一帶的野花，後來被鄂圖曼土耳其發現，並由蘇萊曼大帝栽種於皇家花園，賦予它天堂、富貴與愛的意義，不僅如此，連鬱金香的英文名稱「tulip」也來自土耳其語中的「頭巾tülbent」，因為花朵的形狀像是摺疊的頭巾故有此名稱流傳，之後這朵野花也透過土耳其商人傳入歐洲，最終在荷蘭的適宜氣候中落地生根，逐漸成為當地貴族身份與地位的象徵。鬱金香的高價與稀有曾在17世紀引發「鬱金香狂熱」，一株鬱金香的球根能換一棟豪宅，這現象在1630年引發了人類史上第一次的金融風暴，成為荷蘭的泡沫經濟。即便如此，鬱金香仍深受荷蘭人喜愛，1949年當地花農在原本是女伯爵Jacoba van Beieren種植的蔬果與草藥而得名的「廚房花園」，創造了一個開放式花卉展覽場地，這也就今天的庫肯霍夫（Keukenhof，「keuken（廚房）」與「hof（花園）」）的由來。隨著更多花農和園藝業者的加入，各式各樣的花卉品種不斷培育，使這裡逐漸成為展示花卉魅力的最佳場所，每年春天園內的鬱金香、水仙花、風信子等球莖花爭相綻放，吸引無數遊客前來，成為荷蘭最具代表性的春季盛事。說到春天的花卉，一定會提到臺灣客家最具有象徵意義的油桐花。過去，油桐樹是重要的經濟作物，尤其在桃竹苗等客家聚居地，因其油桐子可用於榨油、防水以及製作油漆，成為先民生活中的經濟支柱，由於這樣的實用價值，油桐花逐漸成為客家文化的重要象徵，代表著勤奮、堅毅與與自然共生的精神；每當三、五月荷蘭鬱金香盛開時，也是客家桐花綻放的時節，山林間會飄下猶如飄雪般的美景，尤其在桃園、新竹、苗栗的客家庄桐花紛飛，宛如白雪覆山，成為臺灣春夏交替最美的風景。「客家桐花祭」始於2002年，客委會於公館鄉北河桐花林的百年伯公石龕設壇，感念山林提供的資源，如油桐、香茅油、樟腦等，向天地祈福，此活動融合客家文化的肅穆、潔淨與虔誠，故以「祭」為名，而非「季」。如今，桐花祭成為展現客家文化的重要節慶，在許多客家庄聚落有舉辦一些活動及一些輕旅行的路線規劃，甚至在今年還有苗栗客家桐花婚禮，希望藉由不同的活動帶領世人認識這朵純潔的白花背後深厚的文化意涵與客家人的精神面貌。在本期《客語說世界》中，我們將帶您深入探討這些由「客家桐花祭」所衍生的單字片語，讓我們一同感受客家文化的深厚底蘊與獨特魅力。 -- Hosting provided by SoundOn…

相信大家都聽過這句話：「只要不相同的日子，就是好日子。」這句經典台詞出自1993年美國喜劇電影《Groundhog Day》（中譯：今天暫時停止）。片中，難搞的天氣預報員在報導「土撥鼠日」時陷入時間循環，每天重複經歷2月2日。最後，他領悟到，唯有徹底認識並接受每一天的重複，才能打破「藥命效應」般的困局。這部電影似乎在跟過著「重複生活的我們」對話，藉由影片一同了解「愛生活」的態度，因此這部電影還獲得英國電影學院獎最佳原創劇本獎等殊榮。現實生活中，確實有一隻名為「菲爾」（Punxsutawney Phil）的土撥鼠會在每年2月2日會化身為「天氣預報員」，預測「春天是否提前到來」。這項傳統可追溯至1840年，直到1887年才有「土撥鼠日」，如今仍有許多民眾會穿著正式服裝到現場見證菲爾這隻土撥鼠的預測。然而，你是否好奇，為什麼是土撥鼠來預測春天呢？答案與「動物冬眠」和「生物時鐘」的本能息息相關。「土撥鼠日」的起源可追溯至歐洲的「獻主節」（Candlemas Day）。古羅馬人在這一天點燃蠟燭祈福並預測天氣，據說蠟燭燃得越明亮，代表「第二個冬天」即將來臨。這項傳統後來傳至德國，人們改用刺蝟作為寒冬結束的指標。如果在2月2日夜晚，未見刺蝟出洞活動，便意味著寒冷且伴隨暴風雪的冬季將延續六週。德國移民將此傳統帶至美國賓州，但因當地缺乏刺蝟，改以土撥鼠取而代之，並將預測改為白天進行。如果土撥鼠從洞裡出來看不到自己的影子，意味早春到來。在臺灣，以農為生的客家聚落，隨處可見類似的觀察。在「驚蟄」節氣前後，常聽到「驚蟄不凍蟲，冷到五月中」或「驚蟄雷鳴，成堆穀米」等諺語，象徵冬眠的動物若未被春雷驚醒，或天氣過於溫暖，都預示春天會延後。不僅如此，客人們還會透過鳥類、昆蟲與爬蟲的行為來推測天氣，例如：「燕仔低飛蛇過路，大雨就來到」與「揚尾滿天飛，大水就會到」，這些都是觀察燕子與蜻蜓飛行來預測是否會下雨。即使到了今日，許多氣象專家仍認為祖先的智慧具有一定的準確性，並指出在臺灣，有一種比刺蝟或土撥鼠更靈敏的春天預測者，那就「蚊子」。由於蚊子偏好22至30度的溫暖氣候，當冬季轉為春季，氣溫逐漸回升時，蚊子便會大量出現，成為我們最貼身又難纏的「天氣預報員」。在本期《客語說世界》中，我們將帶您深入探討這些由動物行為衍生的客家諺語，感受傳統智慧如何結合動物觀察，成為生活指引的魅力！ -- Hosting provided by SoundOn…

「2025臺灣燈會」是繼2016年後，時隔9年再次回到桃園舉辦，地點在桃園高鐵站前廣場及機捷A19站週邊場域（樂天棒球場、亞矽IOT展廳戶外空間、原世界客家博覽會轉運站及青塘園等4個場地)。有2大展區及五大主題，展區共規劃1座主燈、2大副燈及11個主題燈區，主燈不是「蛇」而是以抽象符號呈現。主視覺以「光聚千塘串桃園」意象，透過臺灣燈會點亮桃園，讓世界看見臺灣、更看見客家。「2025臺灣燈會」在桃園舉辦之際，客家的亮點也一一呈現。桃園客家人口超過90萬人，是臺灣客家人口最多的城市，可以驕傲地說是客家第一庄，客語腔調以四縣、海陸為主，另有饒平、詔安等少數腔調。桃園客家庄地貌多樣性，古有云：「民以食為天(客：食飯皇帝大)」，用舌尖美味「吃」來認識一個城市，是最好快且最令人愉悅的方式，桃園市各地大街小弄都有饕客必訪的名店和美食，為此桃園客家事務局還成立了「尋客MEET HAKKA」桃園客家美食網站，詳細介紹客家菜、米食、醃製等美味料理，讓遊客帶著美味滋味滿意回家。在旅遊路線方面，桃園依地區特色可分為「山客」、「海客」、「都會客」。「山客」以龍潭區、大溪區及楊梅區為主、「海客」以新屋區、觀音區、大園區為主，新興移居的「都會客家」是以中壢區及平鎮區為主。遊客可以從國家級歷史地景當起點，平鎮區原有的義民公園擴建整合為「1895乙未戰役紀念公園」，彰顯「歷史就在腳底下」的精神。還有，北區客家會館承載著各式傳統與現代的客家活動，喚回客家族群的光榮感。此外，龍潭三坑茶港有「客家茶港」的美譽，是桃園產業故事的文化起點。最後，鍾肇政文學園區是紀念臺灣文學之母鍾肇政，也是重要文學地標之一。「2025臺灣燈會」在桃園，歡迎一起來體驗桃園客家亮點。 With the "2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival" happening in Taoyuan from February 12 to February 23, come and experience the highlights of Taoyuan’s Hakka culture! 目前世界上有將近六千種語言，到了 21 世紀末 90％的語言將流失，尤其是少數人的語言正以驚人的速度滅絕並死亡。語言就像生物界物種一樣，有可能走向滅亡之路，臺灣也有很多本來存在的原住民語已然流失，像是巴賽語（Basai）和凱達格蘭語（Ketangalan）。為此，聯合國教科文組織（UNESCO）設立自2000年起每年的2月21日為「世界母語日」（又稱「國際母語日」），今年邁入第25年，目的是希望大家多關注瀕危語言，宣導保護語言的重要。根據聯合國教科文組織語言活力指標6 個等級中，客語活力非常低落被評定為「嚴重瀕危」，尤其是少數腔調如大埔腔、饒平腔及詔安腔，已經在極度瀕危等級。25年來世界各國在挽救母語方面有許多成功的例子，其中紐西蘭是世界公認挽救母語流失最成功的典範，紐西蘭原住民的毛利語被聯合國列作瀕危語言，自1982年起推動「語言巢(客話：語言竇 ngiˊ ngienˇ deu )」，70%左右著重於0-5歲的幼稚教育階段，促使毛利語成為紐西蘭的官方語言。另外芬蘭對於母語教育非常的重視，教育提倡：把母語學好，學什麼語言都容易。2015 年聯合國宣布 17 項永續發展目標（簡稱SDGs），我們可以透過「世界母語日」讓孩子們學習 SDG 4優質教育指標，了解語言為什麼也要永續之危機意識，搶救客話「講，就對了」。 Every year, February 22nd marks International Mother Language Day , reminding us of the importance of preserving native languages. Many languages worldwide are disappearing, and the Hakka language is no exception. According to UNESCO, Hakka is classified as "severely endangered," with some dialects, like Dabu and Zhao'an, critically at risk. Language preservation is crucial, as it connects us to our heritage.
