This episode is a collection of excerpts from Instagram Live events between The Desi Condition team and members of the community in response to the eruption of the #BlackLivesMatter protests and movement across the country. These excerpts scenario map having conversations about the movement when they are met with resistance, and how to keep the movement going after the hashtags and protests die out. We discuss why it's necessary to decolonize the mind, and what role intersectionality plays in being an effective ally. We draw parallels between Hindu supremacy and white supremacy, reflecting on how South Asians treat their own minorities and why it's relevant to current events. We dispel the model minority myth and talk about the media portrayal of protests. But most of all, these conversations ask South Asians to reflect on and hold themselves accountable for anti-Blackness biases in their communities, while keeping the focus on police brutality and #BLM. You can listen to full versions of each conversation on our IGTV page. Follow us on @thedesicondition for more on the continued fight as allies of #BLM. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-desi-condition/support
