The United Arab Emirates assumes the Security Council presidency in March at a time when the body finds itself powerless to overcome Russia's veto and take any real action on Ukraine. We talk with Emirati Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh as well as Dr. Sanam Vakil, Deputy Head of Chatham House's Middle East and North Africa Program, about the UAE's foreign policy priorities as Council president, its abstention on the recent vote to condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and the relationship among the women ambassadors on the Council. This was co-host and co-producer Stéphanie Fillion's last episode of UN-Scripted. We wish her good luck in her future endeavors. You can keep up with Stéphanie on Twitter, @fillionsteph10.
