Hollywood filmmaker Aitch Alberto on traveling to recalibrate, saying yes to new adventures, and how a trip to Texas inspired her movie

In this week's episode, we talk to Aitch Alberto—an LA-based filmmaker—who wrote the screenplay for and directed the film adaptation of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (produced by Lin Manuel Miranda). The film debuted at TIFF last year and recently made its US debut at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Aitch is also a Sundance Episodic Lab fellow and she was included on The Black List’s inaugural Latinx List, Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch for 2022 list and Indiewire’s 22 Rising Female Filmmakers to Watch in 2022. She has written on AppleTV’s anthology series Little America and the upcoming HBO Max series Duster, a crime drama set in the 1970s from J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan.
