Welcome to another episode of Writers Drinking whiskey, the show where authors ponder their metaphysical insignificance while sharing a pint (or four). Think Booktube and Booktok, but with engaging, in-depth, and happily irreverent conversations with some of today's most interesting authors. Add a heavy pour of comradery, a dash of laughter, and a splash of substance, and you'll be tipsy by the time we get to the author reading.
In this episode, host William R. Hincy shares a drink with award-winning writer and poet Mathieu Cailler, author of the short story collection Loss Angeles, the novel Heaven and Other Zip Codes, and Catacombs of the Heart (among others). Find out what peeves Mathieu (hint, a lot), hear about a trip that changed his life, and listen to the author read one of his brilliant poems.
New episodes will drop the second Monday of every month, with bonus episodes the last Monday or the month (whenever possible). For an ads-free version and loads of other free content, check out my website at https://williamrhincy.com/

Bios (short)
Mathieu: Mathieu Cailler is the author of six books. His short stories, poems, and essays have appeared in numerous national and international publications, most notably in The Saturday Evening Post and the Los Angeles Times. He is the recipient of a Shakespeare Award, a Short Story America Prize, and a New England Book Festival Award. Heaven and Other Zip Codes, his debut novel and most recently published book, has been hailed “a postmodern masterpiece” by Midwest Book Review and was named the winner of the 2021 Los Angeles Book Festival.
Bill: “Some people run from their demons; others sit down and have cocktails with theirs.” William R. Hincy is a man who does and writes about the latter. Having become a writer after deciding it was the only sensible thing for a problem drinker to do, Hincy aspires to use literature to connect society on an emotional level through characters who no longer create messes but have instead become the mess. Hincy has won the American Fiction Award and been named a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award and two International Book Awards. Without Expiration, his personal anthology of short fiction, was named one of the Best Books of 2020 by Kirkus Reviews. He now lives outside Los Angeles with his wife and kids, having found solace in the notion that the only things sacred are self and spiced rum.
