In 2022, Deborah was appointed CEO of Entrepreneurship Education Consortium, the Northeast Ohio hub for university-based entrepreneurship, innovation programming and ecosystem development. Previously, Deborah served as president and CEO of Burton D. Morgan Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship. She is a three-term Candid trustee as of 2014. Deborah was instrumental in Morgan Foundation’s Northeast Ohio Collegiate Entrepreneurship Program, a Kauffman Campuses℠ Initiative, spreading entrepreneurship across campuses; and in developing NEOLaunchNET, a five-campus programs network supporting student venture creation. She spearheaded the decision to establish the Entrepreneurship Education Experiment, a research institute that advances entrepreneurship education through leading-edge research and programs. Deborah received the Northeast Ohio EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2014. From 2013 to 2015, Deborah chaired the Fund for Our Economic Future, a philanthropic collaborative advancing Northeast Ohio’s economic competitiveness. She serves on the boards of the Bounce Innovation Hub, Team NEO, and the Norman Rockwell Museum. She is co-chair of the international Deshpande Symposium focused on entrepreneurship and higher education. Deborah earned her B. A. from Williams College, master’s in art history from the University of Chicago, and master’s in cultural history from Kent State University, a J.D. degree at George Washington University and is a member of the bar in the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, and Ohio. She completed Harvard Business School’s "Governing for Non-Profit Excellence Executive Education Program" and “Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations.” She holds an honorary doctorate from Baldwin Wallace University.…

Marcia Ballinger, Ph. D., has over 30 years in community college leadership roles advancing student success, workforce and economic development, strategic planning, and institutional advancement. She holds a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Walden University, an MBA from Kent State University, and a BA in Journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She serves as Lorain County Community College’s (LCCC) fifth president and previously held positions as Provost, Vice President for Strategic Development, and Vice President LCCC’s Foundation. Dr. Ballinger’s fundamental belief that “Every Student’s Dream Matters,” is at the core of LCCC’s Culture of Care. Her unwavering commitment to equity and student success has led to significant reductions in educational achievement gaps – especially for underserved students. She is an inaugural member of the Aspen Institute’s Presidential Fellowship. Through Dr. Ballinger’s strategic vision, the College became the first community college in Ohio to offer an applied bachelor’s degree program in MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems) in 2018, and then a second applied bachelor’s degree in Smart Industrial Automation and Technology in 2021. Under her leadership LCCC garnered the top two national honors for excellence in student success awarded by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) as “First in the Nation for Excellence in Student Success” in 2018 and by Achieving the Dream, Inc. Dr. Church served 45 years as a leader in higher education, 30 of those years as president of Lorain County Community College until his retirement in June, 2016. Dr. Church is recognized for his leadership in creating innovative models to fulfill the four cornerstones of the comprehensive community college mission: education, economic, community and cultural development. Notable among these are the nationally recognized University Partnership Program, an Early College High School and a Public Service Institute with its Joint Center for Policy Research. In addition, Dr. Church has worked to build collaborative initiatives with business, organized labor and government to enhance workforce education, economic development and entrepreneurial activity in Northeast Ohio. Dr. Church is nationally recognized for developing a comprehensive portfolio of innovation and entrepreneurship resources to help stimulate technology-based economic growth. His leadership has led to the creation of GLIDE, which is recognized by the State of Ohio a highly successful Technology Incubator; the Innovation Fund, a $20 million pre-seed fund for regional technology start-ups; a 46,000 square foot commercialization center for sensors and microsystems; and a 75,000 square foot Advanced Technologies Center supporting advanced manufacturing and containing a National Science Foundation Weld-Ed Center and a digital rapid prototyping center. Upon his retirement in June 2016, the Lorain County Community College District Board of Trustees honored Dr. Church with title of President Emeritus. In this role, Dr. Church will continue to advance the College’s pioneering work in technology commercialization, entrepreneurship and innovation as related to state and federal priorities.
