A friend gave me a great quote last week. “The 2nd Amendment is every American citizen’s army, marines, and personal bodyguard.” He said, “I like to carry my Glock, because a policeman is just too heavy!” Those who fight against the 2nd Amendment fight against American freedom, against our constitution. Our Bill of Rights rests solely on the 2nd Amendment, for if you can’t defend your rights, you have no rights. That’s why I was dismayed with the Supreme Court a few years ago when four out of the nine judges voted that “it isn’t a right to own and bear arms.
Why would our Founders write, “This is what the government CAN’T do,” then just for one of our rights, “This is what citizens CAN’T do.” It’s an old fight, and I don’t see it stopping soon. Democrats fought to prevent former slaves from owning arms after the Civil War, and still want to keep people in slavey today.
