Grab your boards and listen up for the latest surf zone forecast for New York! Today’s report comes from the National Weather Service in New York City.
Starting off with Kings (Brooklyn) area, we've got a HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK until 6 PM this evening. Surf heights are around 3 feet, so nothing too crazy today. The water temperature is in the upper 60s, it will be cloudy with a chance of rain, and temperatures reaching the upper 60s as well. Don't forget to check out Coney Island beach, and be aware of those rip currents!
Moving on to Southern Queens, the conditions are pretty similar, with a HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK and surf heights around 3 feet. The surf temperature is also in the upper 60s, with cloudy weather and a chance of rain. Make sure to stay safe at Jacob Riis Park and Rockaway Beach!
For Southern Nassau, including Atlantic Beach and Long Beach, the rip current risk remains HIGH. Surf heights are around 3 feet, with temperatures also in the upper 60s. Winds are around 15 to 20 mph from the east. Be cautious and enjoy the sunshine!
In Southwestern Suffolk, the rip current risk is HIGH as well with similar surf heights and temperatures. The waves are around 3 feet, surf temperature in the upper 60s, and windy conditions from the east around 20 mph. Keep an eye out for those rip currents at Gilgo State Park and Robert Moses Park!
Lastly, Southeastern Suffolk is experiencing a HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK with slightly higher surf heights around 4 feet. The surf temperature is in the mid-60s, with mostly cloudy weather and a chance of rain. Be mindful at Smith Point and Ditch Plains!
