Cam Ward and No. 4 Miami finally ran out of second-half comebacks, as the senior superstar QB fumbled the ball away on the Hurricanes’ last drive in Georgia Tech’s 28-23 win over the #4 Hurricanes just outside Atlanta.

The loss will knock Miami out of the top 5 of the polls and the College Football Playoff rankings. They’re already out of 1st place in the ACC, and their path to the college football playoffs and a shot at a National Championship just got a lot more bumpy.

This win was the Yellow Jackets’ first over a top-five team in 15 years. Their fans ran on the field, and knocked down the goalposts at the end of the game.

Georgia Tech ran for 271 yards to 88.

Haynes King ran for 93 yards with a touchdown and threw for a score.

Ward threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns, likely keeping himself in the front of the pack in the Heisman Trophy race.

Miami (9-1, 5-1 ACC, No. 4 CF Playoff) just missed its first 10-0 start since 2017.

The ‘Canes only lead in this game was 10-7. Miami never led the rest of the way after GT went up 14-10 in the second quarter.

The closest they came was when Ward hit Xavier Restrepo with a 38-yard scoring pass to cut the lead to 28-23 with just over 6:00 left.

Miami's got the ball back again at its own 19 with 1:52 on the clock. Ward fumbled after being sacked, Georgia Tech recovered and that was that.

Ward first pass of the game was a 74-yard TD pass to Elijah Arroyo. It was Ward's school-record 30th touchdown pass of the season.

The Miami offense went 3-10 on 3rd down and 0-3 on 4th down in the game.

Following a much-needed off week, the Hurricanes play Wake Forest on Nov. 23 at home.
