Bon sang c'est la rentrée, on range les vélos sous le parasol, tout est plié (faute de place). Quelle veine, Radio Gonzaï concocte aux chanceux l'ultime carte postale à s'envoyer à soi-même, comme ça, en souvenir. Certains crieront au scandale : "Quoi ? Qu'est-ce que viennent foutre Kid Créole, Grace Jones, Laibach et - que le cul me pèle - André Verchuren dans nos sandalettes pleines de sable ?" Bah, c'est pas grave, un peu d'humour revendiqué ne fait pas de mal. En revanche l'amateur éclairé reconnaîtra un des plus beaux singles du monde, le Hold Me Tight de Johnny Nash, comme un adieu aux plages, aux filles en technicolor, passées sous nos yeux dans un moment furtif et qu'on ne reverra sans doute jamais.…
Comment passer à côté d’un concept aussi surévalué et marketé que celui annoncé comme étant musique du monde ? Et d’abord qu’est-ce au juste ? Tout dépend du point de vue d’où l’on se trouve. Un Camerounais normalement épris de makossa devrait trouver les orchestrations 60’s de Michel Colombier très exotiques, c’est évident, et un bon disque reste un bon disque, d’où qu’il vienne (voire de nulle part, tel le bien nommé I Hear A New World de Joe Meek). Son contraire est aussi valable : une daube reste une daube, pour preuve Johnny Clegg, les productions Real World où les artistes du label - au son déjà allégrement tronqué par le couillon numero uno Peter Gabriel – n’ont rien à envier à Francis Cabrel et sa poésie pour paysans. L’équipe de choc Radio Gonzaï s’est donc empoignée autour de la table, exhibant obsessions personnelles, plaisirs coupables et trésors enfouis à écouter par temps maussade, parce qu’un été, même indien, ne dure jamais.…

Parenthèse fermée, revenons à nos moutons : la dernière salve estampillée Radio Gonzaï, consacrée cette semaine encore aux cadences infernales, à celles et ceux qui un jour se sont pris pour les Monsieur Plus d'une célèbre marque de biscuits. Puissance et beauté absolue : des lustres qu'on voulait caser Robert Wyatt ; c'est ainsi donc que l'auditeur pourra découvrir ou réécouter les méandres à l’infinie clarté de Little Red Riding Hood Hit The Road, extrait de Rock Bottom, grand cru 1974, dans une de ses principales démesures. La prochaine fois, la Radio Gonzaï team fera le tour du monde en 2 heures et quelques en se posant une question aussi absurde que sa dénomination : qu’est-ce que c’est que cette histoire de world music ?
