What do you know about safe transfers? Do you know what general safety precautions you have to follow? Do you know what you should do before you transfer the person? Do you know what you should do after you transfer the person? A safe transfer means moving the person under your care from one place to another. A safe transfer also takes the pressure off the skin and keeps blood flowing. A bedridden person's risk for bedsores and blood clots is lower if he or she moves often. Safe transfer techniques can help protect the person and you from injury and falls. On this episode of the Purposeful Caregiver Podcast, Devon goes solo to talk about five general principles for safe transfers that you can follow today. She will touch on topics such as: Five different general principles for safe transfers. Avoiding injury as a caregiver while also ensuring your loved one is safe throughout a transfer. As a caregiver, have you been wondering how you can help the senior under your care to age in place successfully? In a study from AARP, more than 80% of adults said that they would prefer to age in place for as long as possible as they got older, rather than uprooting their lives and moving into institutionalized care. To keep it simple, aging in place refers to older adults living in the comfort and security of their own homes, rather than transitioning into a senior care facility. On this episode of The Purposeful Caregiver Podcast, Emily and Devon will talk about their work at Purposefully Home, their expertise as clinicians, the options that continue to open up for older people who want to age in place, and how Purposefully Home prides itself in facilitating better senior care by equipping caregivers with the necessary skills.
