Don’t Let Worry Get You Down

“Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day catch you unexpectedly, like a trap.” - from Luke 21

If you’re watching this video you probably already agree with the first part of this verse. You know and believe that excessive partying and debauchery are a dead end. They will keep you from the blessings you might have and rob you of the blessings you already have.

It’s the second part of this verse that many of us sleep on. Excessive worry is listed in the same sentence with drunkenness and dissipation as one of the traps that will keep us from experiencing the good God has for us.

Let that sink in. Excessive worry can be just as destructive to us and our wellbeing as excessive partying.

Therefore, we have to guard our hearts and minds. When we feel worry creeping up on us, particularly when we have already addressed the underlying causes, we have to interrupt and redirect our thoughts.

Earlier in this passage, Jesus told us to always be looking for the signs of summer. Focus on the positive.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
