Season 5 Podcast 105 Book of Revelation Ch 5 B vs 9-14, “Worthy is the Lamb.”

The Savior alone was capable of opening the Book.

Revelation 5:9

“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”

What is that new song? It is that the old law is done away, and a new law has taken its place. The Law of Moses is fulfilled in Christ. The unique thing about the Law of Moses was that its entire purpose was to remind of Christ, to bring us to Christ, and to teach of his coming to earth to redeem mankind. The new song is that he came to earth, paid the price for our sins and brought about our resurrection, making it possible for us to return to God. “Thou art worthy” refers to the fact that Christ, though he lived on earth and became subject to temptation, he remained sinless. He was the sacrificial lamb. His blood, therefore, redeemed us, making it possible for us to repent and come to Christ and return to our Father in Heaven. The law of mercy overpowered the law of justice, thus satisfying the demands of the law of justice. The book represents the world, and the seals represent periods of time in the world. In this we are told how to read the Book of Revelation. In Chapter four, the period of time was set.

Revelation 4: 1

“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”

In other words, it is talking about the distant future. In Revelation Chapter 1, we are given a different time frame.

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:.”

In other words, it is talking about the near future. In speaking of the distant future John writes.

Revelation 5:10

“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

That, of course, does not occur until after the Second Coming of Christ, during the Millenium. The Seven Seals refer to the entire history of the world, but the primary focus of the Book of Revelation is on the future, with great emphasis on our day just prior to Christ’s Second Coming. We must keep the time frame in mind.

Notice that John said, “We shall reign on the earth.” During the Millennium it will be a theocratic government, governed Christ. It will be ruled by kings and priests who apparently will be judges. The Book of Revelation tells what must happen before the Millennium comes. The old-world order will destroy itself. The kings and priests of the period of the Millennium will be called by Christ.

Revelation 5:11

“And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;”

The term “many angels” turns into a number too large to imagine. Ten thousand times ten thousand is a hundred million, but added to that is the nebulous number of thousands of thousands. Who are those angels? Well, it will be the redeemed as well as those spirits who are waiting to come to earth. One cannot image the joy in heaven. It is a reminder of the words of Job so frequently referred to earlier, when the earth was created.
