Inspiring and committed woman, she has dedicated a large part of her professional life to improving access to water and sanitation in Africa. As the former West Africa Regional Director of WaterAid, she spent 18 years there and has become an iconic figure in advocating for these fundamental human rights in the region. From OXFAM to WaterAid where she retired in march 2023, passing by IED.

Over the years, Mariame has become an influential personality in the African water world. She has worked with governments, civil society organizations, private sector partners, and local communities to raise awareness about the importance of access to water and sanitation. She has also been involved in projects that have had a significant impact on the lives of local populations, particularly in the areas of sanitation infrastructure and economic development.

Mariame is known for her collaborative and listening-based management style. She is described as a humble, charismatic and trustworthy person. Marième is a committed panafricanist and has met with many African political figures throughout her career.
