What does it mean to be "sober-minded"?

What does it mean to be "faithful in all things"?

Why is it so tempting to slander someone? Why is it difficult to put a stop to it when it's going on around you?

Read 2 Timothy 3:1-7. How could it be possible for slander and a lack of self-control to "have the appearance of godliness"? What gospel promises can we cling to in order to be sober-minded in those situations?
