The law of familiarity: When you experience anything for enough time, it becomes familiar. You take it for granted and you appreciate it less. This could be a person, place or thing.

in business and in life most of us operate on autopilot much of the time. Think of breathing.. we just do it, we don't even notice that we are, until we stop and actively think about it.. and then you find yourself "manually" breathing.. or notice how you greet someone you haven't seen in a year, vs somebody you see every day.. because things are so familiar we don't tend to notice, see, hear, feel or appreciate what is going on around us. There is an incredible power of focus.

what would happen to your business if you noticed your customers at a deeper level? How would that change a relationship to them? How much could you meet their needs if you really understood and appreciated what was going on with them what if you noticed and appreciated your employees this way? What if you noticed your own patterns? What's possible if you become more mindful and learn to control your focus?

It's pretty hard to solve problems when you don't even notice them. For example, you're in a relationship and you think things are going really well but all of a sudden you find out your partner has a different point of view... this can happen in any relationship, business, intimate, customer, or personal if you're not paying attention.
