In this episode, Grant McHerron & Ewen Levick talk with Marcus Hellyer about the recent federal government budget and its impacts on Defence.

Marcus gives us an insight into key details of the budget, with discussions surrounding the challenges and future of sustainment, the relationship between capability and cost, and projection of whether the budget and GDP growth will support the implementation of submarines and general Defence capability, with suggestions as to where the funds may come from.

We also review the DSR's focus on Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to purchase new equipment, whether sustainment will be pushed below the line, and the future for the Australian Defence industry.
