Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects children as young as 18 months of age. It is a spectrum disorder that is lifelong. Some individuals with autism develop spoken speech while many remain nonverbal.
Our son is on the autism spectrum and is nonverbal to this day. He communicates with an AAC device which stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
In this episode, I talk about Non-verbal autism, How you can advocate for your child and also some strategies which have personally helped me in parenting my nonverbal son.
