Being a hero is celebrated and even coveted in our culture, but if we dig into it, it’s actually not a positive thing.

Humans have this magnificent impulse to share and give - the art of generosity. But this incredible ability can easily run up against the need to be the hero. Heroes swoop in and save the day, but it doesn’t actually come from a good place.

Sometimes when we give in this way, we’re actually being driven by our puffed up, cape and Spandex wearing identity. True giving creates warmth, expansion and it doesn’t make the recipient feel less than.

We have so much to untangle about the difference between generosity and playing hero.

So, the next time we want to do something good, how do we make sure it’s true generosity and not hero-ing? In this episode, we talk about the dark side of giving and how to make sure we’re doing it from a grounded place.

Is this an act of generating generosity or is it an act of not thinking the other person is competent or feeling superior? -Sophie Chiche

-Expansion vs. elevating yourself

How do we identify those moments where we’re acting from that hero place? How do our bodies feel when we’re in true generosity?
