Subscribe Now 🙏 https://www.youtube.com/@DeSalvoLaw When you get hurt in an accident, you often are not able to work. This adds SO MUCH stress. How can you pay your doctor bills much less rent? In this video, I explain how to make sure YOU get your lost wages paid. Proof of Wage Loss: To prove wage loss in a personal injury case, whether you're handling it yourself or through a lawyer, you need proper documentation and evidence. For workers' compensation cases, a doctor's note is crucial to show you're unable to work, entitling you to Temporary Total Disability (TTD) payments. Workers' Compensation Wage Loss (TTD): TTD payments typically cover two-thirds of your salary without payroll taxes, but they are not automatic. You might need to fight for these payments, even with a doctor's note. Always obtain a work status note from your doctor for every visit. Third-Party Injury Cases: In cases like car crashes or falls, there's no weekly or bi-weekly wage loss compensation. Instead, you receive a lump sum at the end of the case (settlement or verdict) that includes lost wages. This can cause financial hardship as no interim payments are made. Required Documentation for Third-Party Cases: For third-party injury cases, you need to provide tax records for the year before, the year of, and the year after the injury. Additionally, a wage loss authorization from your employer, confirming your work absence and pay rate, is necessary. Self-Employed Individuals: If self-employed, alternative documentation like a letter from an accountant or bookkeeper may be required to substantiate wage loss claims. The goal is to provide credible evidence beyond personal statements to support your claim. Hurt at Work?
