Alphabet, Google's parent company, is reportedly planning to lay off around 10,000 employees, or 6% of its workforce. The move comes as other tech giants have already begun to lay off staff in the face of the challenging global economic conditions. Google is said to be using a ranking system to identify which employees will be let go, with the lowest-ranked employees expected to be the first to be fired. The company has already announced that it will be slowing down its hiring process in the fourth quarter of the year. The expected layoffs come as a surprise given Google's reputation as an employee-friendly company. However, the current economic conditions have made it necessary for the company to downsize its workforce.
