Brooks Lee moved to Buies Creek when he was just five years old after his father, Billy Lee, was named head basketball coach in 1985. Raised in the Creek, it's not surprising that Brooks followed his father to practice almost every day throughout the season bouncing a basketball all the while – except when his dad was talking in practice. A North Carolina East-West all-star game selection after graduating from Harnett Central High School, Brooks began his collegiate career at High Point before transferring back home after two seasons. He concluded his career as a point guard in the gym where he grew up, earned his sport management degree and began his graduate work. Brooks followed his father into coaching before leaving the profession and getting into business with his cousin Garrett, who played college basketball at East Carolina. In the next installment of Tales from the Creek, Brooks talks with Stan Cole about growing up in the Creek, developing into a Division I basketball player, the Campbell Basketball School, heading off to High Point University, then returning to CU, his coaching journey and more.
