Consuming Scripture slowly and meditatively allows us to be nourished by truth and wisdom more thoroughly. But it also highlights problems and complications in Scripture. It sometimes feels like God Himself must be overcome, like Goliath, in order for faith to grow.
In this sermon, we examine two such major questions, focusing on the Book of 1 Samuel: the silence of God, and the violence of God. Is that Who God is? Distant, unresponsive, vengeful, and cruel? Or is there a more perfect demonstration of His Wisdom, Truth, and Character?
Amazingly, Chris wasn't struck by lightning in the middle of this sermon. In his basement.
