Why do some Christians turn to addictions and vices instead of turning to Jesus for comfort?

In this episode, Dudley and Sam grapple with why some Christians turn to substances to cope with pain, despite believing Jesus is sufficient. Perhaps some of us have misunderstood the Gospel? We know that Jesus has unconditional love for us, and that He is the source of joy and fulfillment in our lives. Yet, when we struggle with feelings of sadness and loneliness, we sometimes find it hard to keep our faith and find comfort in relationships with others.
