Welcome back to Courtroom Confidential with Joshua Ritter! This week, I share my insights on some of this week’s updates in the true crime world, including:
- Luigi Mangione, the man accused of the brazen assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, waives extradition to return to New York to face additional charges.

- Legal troubles continue to escalate for Tal and Oren Alexander, high-profile real estate moguls, and their brother, Alon, accused in a sprawling federal sex trafficking scheme.

- The unnamed woman who brought sexual assault claims against rap icon Jay-Z, admits to some “mistakes” in her allegations.

This week’s roundup also covers several major cases making headlines, including Rex Heuermann charged with a seventh victim; Nima Momeni found guilty in the 2023 fatal stabbing of Cash App founder Bob Lee; a two-day preliminary hearing in the case of murdered Kansas mothers Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley; lawyers for Alex Murdaugh appeal his murder convictions for killing his wife and son; James Craig gets his third set of attorneys in less than two years; and modifications made to the bond conditions of Brad Simpson.
