When we first sat down with Jennifer back in October of 2022 she was the Chief Marketing Officer of Brightcove. Now she’s in a new role as the CMO of Acquia. As the Chief Marketing Officer of Brightcove, Jennifer Griffin Smith is motivated by discovering the possibilities technology can offer, and building communities of like-minded people who can share stories, be inspired, and learn from each other. Jennifer is an international marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience managing go-to-market strategies and corporate communications for public and private technology companies. Before joining Brightcove, Jennifer held CMO positions at Alfresco Software, Software AG, Workhuman, Avid Technology, and Progress Software. On the Destination CMO podcast she shares the best career advice she ever received, and the specific advice she would give to someone working towards the CMO role. Also in this episode, Jennifer and Vincent discuss how the role of marketer has changed in recent years, and how the streaming industry has changed during that time as well. Jennifer explains that, as streaming takes hold, every company needs to act and think like a media company. You’ll have to listen to the full episode to hear why and how.
