Tonia Schofield is a KZN born and Knysna based entrepreneur, upcycler, change maker and creative. Tonia runs her own business, Nanazulu, making beautiful snap bags out of colourful Shweshwe fabric.
Shweshwe is South African cotton cloth dyed and printed in large varieties of pattern and colour. Originally recognized by the indigo hue, the "Tartan of South Africa" is robust in texture and vibrant in design. Reflected in traditional clothing, haute couture and street wear, this historic cloth authenticates the design process with quality pieces that are fit for royalty.
Tonia keeps upcycling at the heart of her business and uses old tape measures to make the ‘snap’ part of the bags and ostrich leather cut offs for her logo. She is an inspiring human making her difference in the world and doing what she can for the planet each and every day.
