Japan is a country with a growing population of elderly individuals, while the birth rate is declining. The country's demographic shift has led to a growing market for services targeting the elderly.

In response to this societal change, businesses focused on end-of-life services are actively expanding and evolving their offerings.

There has been a rise in business around the death such as hotels designed to cater exclusively to the deceased. There are also modern cemeteries that offer lower costs and easier maintenance than traditional cemeteries.
